ETUC STAND Project

ETUC STAND Project: Strengthening trade union intervention to represent social interests in the standardisation process at European level

The ETUC STAND project, aimed at sustaining and reinforcing trade union representation and effective participation in European standardisation, was launched in 2015 with the financial support of the European Commission and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA).

The ETUC STAND activities mainly consist in:

  • The effective representation in standardisation at policy level, by interfacing with the European Commission and EFTA, the governing bodies of European standardisation organisations, and liaising with other European societal stakeholders;
  • The effective participation in the standardisation work at technical level by means of direct involvement of experts within technical committees and working groups on selected standards;
  • The training of trade union experts participating in technical committees and networking with workers’ representatives involved in standardisation in order to share experience and improve trade unions capacity to act in standardisation;
  • The communication and sharing of information related to standardisation with trade unions and workers’ representatives, including the organization of an annual meeting gathering trade unions representatives interested in standardisation issue.

ETUC STAND Project: Evaluation

The first Framework Partnership Agreement (FPA) as part of which the ETUC STAND project was set up in 2015 came to a close on 31 December 2020. Ahead of the second FPA, which was agreed with the European Commission and EFTA for the 2020-2024 period, the ETUC carried out an evaluation of the project, in order to assess its achievements and challenges, as well as the lessons learnt. The evaluation is publicly available here.

The STAND project is currently being continued, under its second Framework Partnership Agreement, for the 2020-2024 period.
