Invitation : Opening of the registration - Power to Union Youth - Berlin 19-22 May 2023

Dear Members of the youth committee,

With this email, we would like to invite you and your fellow young trade union colleagues and workers’ representatives to attend a youth event Power To Union Youth which will take place from Friday 19^th May to Monday 22 May in Berlin, Germany.  

The event aims to strengthen international solidarity and cooperation by learning about different national realities and boosting our capacity in different fields of trade union action.

As you can see from the attached program, the agenda will include a mix of plenary sessions with trade union leaders, an input session with experts and participative workshops led and proposed by our member organisations (including yours).

Thanks to a combination of different financial resources, and thanks to the support of FES and DGB Youth, we aim to bring together a large number of international participants. However, we encourage organisations that can send participants without the need for reimbursement to do so in solidarity with smaller ETUC members.  

Practical information
As you know the event is taking place on the fringe of the ETUC congress (22-26 May) however the registration for the Youth event does not replace registration for the Congress nor does it guarantees access to it.  

There are three different ways to register for the event:

1. Members of National delegation to the ETUC Congress  (35 years old or younger)

Congratulations on being part of your national delegation. You will help our goal to make this congress younger!

You are more than welcome to join full or part of our program ahead of the Congress.

The flights should be arranged by your organization however we would be happy to book your hotel for the nights between the 19^th – 22^nd May.  (The hotel cannot be chosen by the delegate but will be booked centrally by the ETUC secretariat)

2. ETUC Youth Committee Members (35 years old or younger)

ETUC Youth Committee meeting will be organized in Berlin on 22 May from 10:00 - 16:00.
Registered participants will be in charge of booking their travel arrangements however the hotel room will be automatically booked from 19-22 May.

Expected arrivals: 19^th May (all day)
Expected departure: 22^nd  May after 18:00  

The travel reimbursement and reimbursement of the additional night (if needed) will be done by the European Commission after the event and after the submission of all requested documents via the AGM system.

3. Young Trade Unionists who are not Youth Committee Members (35 years old or younger)

Selected participants will receive the confirmation of their participation and will be contacted by an agency that will book their travel. The hotel room will be automatically booked from 19-22 May.

Expected arrivals 19^th May (all day)
Expected departures 22^nd May after 18:00

An additional night in the hotel will be arranged in case of departure on the  23rd May.

Please note that no additional accommodation will be arranged or reimbursed if you are a registered delegate at the ETUC congress.

We would like to encourage members of the same delegation to consider sharing a room (where possible), as this process will allow us to lower accommodation costs and therefore increase the number of participants.

In addition, we also encourage colleagues for whom it is feasible to come by train.

Registration   
Each ETUC member organisation, including ETUC federations, can register 1 Member of the youth committee and up to 2 other participants. The delegation must respect gender balance!

The deadline for registration is on 24^th March 2023.

Shall there be more free places available registration will open again for all organisations and places will be allocated on first come first served basis

During the registration process you will have to indicate among others:

• If you are a youth committee member or not
• If you will require a reimbursement
• Desired travel itinerary
• Date of birth (Necessary for the travel booking)
• If you would be willing to share a room with another participant of your choice (and their name)
• If you would like to organize a workshop as a part of the program ( and indicative topic)

In Berlin, ETUC will celebrate its 50^th anniversary and the renewal of the trade union movement and youth participation takes an important place in the ETUC Action Program.
We are looking forward to seeing you at this large youth gathering that will transmit to Congress an undeniable message that there is a very active young generation in our movement that deserves attention and space in the next 50 years to come.
