Dear Colleagues,

I am pleased to invite you to the ETUC’s 2024 annual European Works Council Conference, to be held on 26-27 September 2024 in Brussels in person. The Conference will start at 11am CET on 26 September and finishes after lunch on 27 September.

This conference holds special significance as we celebrate several key milestones: commemorating 30 years of the EWC Directive, reflecting on two decades since the EU's big enlargement towards Eastern & Central Europe, and marking a pivotal moment post-EU elections. Furthermore, the conference occurs just before the European co-legislators will take up trilogue negotiations on the revision of the EWC Directive.

Please register here for the event by 1 September. Please don't book your travel or accommodation before receiving an official confirmation of your registration from the ETUC's side.

The event will take place at the European Committee of the Regions, Rue Belliard 99/101, 1040 Bruxelles.

Attached you can find the draft programme. This year’s edition includes:

  • panel discussions on the history of EWCs, the European elections, EWC success stories & 20 years since EU enlargement;
  • Workshops on the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive, artificial intelligence, occupational health & safety and the fight against the far right;
  • ETUI lunch sessions on research on EWCs and training opportunities;
  • A dinner to celebrate 30 years of the EWC Directive, hosted the Hans-Böckler Foundation.

Interpretation will be provided at least in English & French. Interpretation into further languages may be added at a later stage depending on the language needs of registered participants.

ATTENTION: As a rule, the ETUC can only cover accommodation for 1 night, so we kindly urge you to arrive in the morning of 26 September. In case you need to arrive already on 25 September, please contact us. The rules for reimbursement have changed. We kindly ask you to book your travel in advance - please see information regarding travel, accommodation and reimbursement attached.

Don’t hesitate to contact my colleagues Stefan Gran ([email protected]) and Niklas Franke ([email protected]) for further information. For any organisational/administrative question, please contact Bezaye Girma ([email protected]).

We look forward to seeing you at the 2024 ETUC EWC Conference in Brussels.
