ETUC Youth elects new leadership

The ETUC Youth Committee has elected its new leadership for the coming two years.

Céline Ruffie is the new Youth Committee President. She hails from the rail transport sector in France and was nominated by the European Transport Workers’ Federation (ETF). She is accompanied by Vice-President Vera de Man, from the Dutch union CNV. The other Youth Bureau members are:

  • Antonella Kardum, nominated by SSSH Croatia
  • Finja Lee Bethke, nominated by DGB Germany
  • Raquel Antunes Tremoco, nominated by UGT Portugal
  • Mathis Godefroid, nominated by LCGB Luxembourg 
  • Alicja Skowron, nominated by Solidarnosc, Poland.
  • Ástþór Jón Ragnheiðarson nominated by ASI Iceland

The new leadership have already voiced their intention to focus their efforts on addressing precarious working conditions, the housing crisis and on strategies to 

Céline Ruffie, ETUC Youth President said:

"We will uphold the strong legacy of the youth committee and amplify our voice within all ETUC bodies." 

"We are prepared to tackle emerging challenges, like new forms of work, as well as longstanding issues such as age and gender discrimination." 

"I am excited to lead this motivated group of young people, driving activities that will contribute to the necessary renewal of the trade union movement in the evolving labour market."
