"The assassination of Mohammed Brahim has deeply shocked us. With him, and after the fatal attack against Choukri Belaid, Tunisia has lost another figure who represents a new country based on human rights, democracy, equality and secularism. It is clear that his killers are members of a terrorist group aiming to destroy the achievements of the people’s revolution. The fact that the killers of Choukri Belaid are still at large and that the state is clearly failing in its duty to protect the representatives of democratic opposition, feed the suspicions about the attitude of the government and the ruling party. That the attack against Mohamed Brahmi coincided with the anniversary of the Republic is not a pure chance” said Bernadette Ségol.
