The European Trade Union Confederation mourns the senseless massacre of innocent travellers and workers at Istanbul Airport yesterday evening, and has sent a message of solidarity to its members in Turkey.
ETUC General Secretary Luca Visentini said “We mourn for all the victims, the dead and the injured, and their loved ones. We thank those Turkish workers who are tending the injured and dealing with the aftermath of this murderous attack. Whoever did this has nothing but contempt for life and for humanity. As trade unionists we stand for human rights and for democratic change, never for violence.”
“The international community must redouble its efforts to bring peace and sustainable economic development to the region, and do all it can to avoid actions that escalate tension and violence.”
