ETUC joins ILO Global Coalition for Social Justice

Trade unions are the motor of social justice. Yet, addressing the overlapping crises and long-term structural economic transformations will require coordinated efforts by other actors too.

In a bid to forge these alliances, the ETUC has joined the ILO’s Global Coalition for Social Justice. It brings together governments, employers’ and workers’ organizations, international institutions, enterprises, non-governmental organizations, and academic institutions to generate political commitments, investments and concrete actions that support social justice.

Ahead of the launch, ETUC General Secretary Esther Lynch met with ILO Director General Gilbert F. Houngbo. During the meeting she handed over an ETUC key modelled on the three keys of tripartism of the founding of the ILO as a token of the ETUC’s commitment to tripartism and social justice.
